about

Breezy is releasing the first single “Glittery ft. Aka Kelzz” from the soundtrack for the Berlin-based audio series DESIRE (Original Soundtrack zur WDR Hörspielserie). DESIRE is releasing episodes throughout September on WDR. The soundtrack by artist/producer Breezy is graced by Berlin-based artists including the flows of femme rapper Caxxianne, a “self proclaimed peoplelutionist” by way of Cayman Islands and Jamaica, the queer Mexican singer-songwriter Antonio Herrera whose sound mixes 90’s R&B/Soul with new wave Electronica, and the soulful airy R&B vocals of Black nonbinary artist Aka Kelzz originating from the UK.

“Glittery,” featuring Black nonbinary artist Aka Kelzz is dreamy and electric. The way Breezy’s commanding rap verses contrast with Kelzz’s soulful and airy choruses is reminiscent of the now classic and colorful hip hop of the late 90s/early 2000s, like Aaliyah & Timbaland’s “Are You That Somebody?” but with a fresh and modern twist.

The “Glittery ft. Aka Kelzz” release on 1 September is when the journey begins. There will be a second single release on 15 September and the 29 September album release of will be followed by a performance featuring the artists and poets on the album also on 29 September at Oyoun in Berlin.

lyrics

North side for the ride, came to get down but I get a little shy
South side for the ride, came to get down but also get high
East side for the ride, came to get down first time Ima try
West side for the ride, came to get down and we both know why

I'm here to stay
This is my way
Money to be made
I just can't wait
Forget the rest
Love and success
Energize me babe
Rack it up
Rack it up
Rack it up
Rack it up
Cmon and rack it up
Rack it up, rack it up, rack it up

Baby boy, gotta keep this on the low
Ain't no pictures on your phone
You don't need to see my home, no
Can you be responsible
Better leave the obstacles
Gonna need you to play your role, uh
I ain't from this country but I'm making a living
Pay me a millie for all the good that I'm giving
Mother Teresa, I be saving the people
Lethal to say this shit is illegal
Keep me a secret, kept like Elektra
Need a lotta space, sexual spectrum
Watchin my back, I ain't just anybody
Embody the Stallion cuz I'm here to get naughty

I'm here to stay
This is my way
Money to be made
I just can't wait
Forget the rest
Love and success
Energize me babe
Rack it up
Rack it up
Rack it up
Rack it up
Cmon and rack it up
Rack it up, rack it up, rack it up

I will make my demands I will do what I want
When you got the curves how can you not flaunt
Everything everywhere, cunt when I stunt
Let me get two hits from the blunt
Spit spells like a witch, outside it's a hunt
Find the buried treasure, warm up the cold front
Hip hip I sold one, hooray the web spun
Gotta look out this girl is poison
Me plus pole equals endless cash flow
Pull out all the stops, you already know
Top prize cuz he cries, "Oh Hallelujah"
My catcher mitt's MVP ain't it true yeah
I'm comfortable, walkin these dogs is a piece of cake
Resourceful heaux, come take a dip in this beautiful lake

I'm here to stay
This is my way
Money to be made
I just can't wait
Forget the rest
Love and success
Energize me babe
Rack it up
Rack it up
Rack it up
Rack it up
Cmon and rack it up
Rack it up, rack it up, rack it up

North side for the ride, came to get down but I get a little shy
South side for the ride, came to get down but also get high
East side for the ride, came to get down first time Ima try
West side for the ride, came to get down and we both know why

about

Breezy Bay Point, California

If Audre Lorde was a rapper, Breezy would be the embodiment because their hip hop takes on topics like racial identity, gender politics, and queerness. Breezy represents the fluidity in the gray area between “man” and “woman” or “Black” and “white.”
